A heat pump install is a longer decision than a repair — you’re picking a system that runs your home for the next 15 to 20 years. The size has to match your house, the electrical has to support it, and the ductwork has to move the air the new system produces. Get one of those wrong and a brand-new high-efficiency system underperforms a properly-sized older one.

What’s Included in a Heat Pump Installation

1. In-home assessment

A tech visits the property, looks at the current heating and cooling setup, checks the electrical panel, inspects existing ductwork (if any), and measures the rooms. This is a full walkthrough, not a sales drop-off.

5. Old equipment removal

If we’re replacing a furnace, AC, or old heat pump, we remove and recycle the old equipment. Refrigerant in old AC or heat pump units is recovered to EPA standards — not vented.

2. Manual J load calculation

We calculate the actual heating and cooling load for your house. Square footage alone gives the wrong answer — insulation, window placement, ceiling height, and orientation all matter. An oversized heat pump short-cycles and dehumidifies poorly. An undersized one runs constantly and gives up on the coldest mornings.

6. Installation

Indoor air handler or furnace coil set, outdoor condenser mounted on a pad or wall bracket, line set run, condensate drain plumbed, electrical disconnect installed, low-voltage controls wired in. For ducted systems, we verify static pressure and modify ductwork where needed.

3. Equipment recommendation

Based on the load calc, your home layout, your budget, and any rebate targets, we recommend a specific system. You see the model numbers, the SEER2 and HSPF2 ratings, and the rebate eligibility before you decide. We install Mitsubishi Electric, Bosch, Trane, Carrier, Lennox, Goodman, and RunTru.

7. Commissioning

Once the system is installed, we charge it to the manufacturer’s spec, verify airflow at the registers, set up the thermostat, and run it through a full heating and cooling cycle.

4. Permits

Every heat pump install in King and Snohomish County requires a mechanical permit. We pull it. You don’t talk to the city.

8. Inspection coordination

The city inspector comes out within a week or two of the install. We schedule it and meet them on site.

Why Fuse Service

Why Choose Fuse Service

Licensed EPA-Certified Technicians
Every AC installation is handled by a licensed, EPA 608-certified technician — not a subcontractor. We size your system correctly from the first visit so you’re not paying to cool air that escapes through gaps in ductwork.

Same-Day Availability
We understand that Seattle summers are short and the cooling window is narrow. We offer same-day consultations and fast installation scheduling so your home is comfortable before the next heat wave hits.

Up to 10-Year Parts & Labor Warranty
New AC installations come with up to a 10-year parts and labor warranty. If something goes wrong after install — we come back and fix it. No service call charge, no fine print.

Upfront Pricing — No Surprises
You’ll get a clear written estimate before any work begins. No hidden fees, no post-install additions. The price we quote is the price you pay.

What Affects Heat Pump Installation Cost

Electrical capacity

A heat pump usually pulls between 20 and 50 amps. If your panel is already near capacity, you may need a sub-panel or a service upgrade. We flag this during the assessment, not on install day.

System type

A ducted central heat pump costs differently than a ductless multi-zone install. The right choice depends on whether you already have ductwork and whether you want zone-by-zone control.

Home size and load

A 1,200 sq ft cottage in Ballard and a 3,800 sq ft house in Sammamish need different equipment. The load calc decides.

Efficiency tier

Existing ducts that are well-sealed and properly sized keep the install simple. Older homes sometimes need a partial duct redesign or sealing — that adds cost but improves performance.

Electrical capacity

A heat pump usually pulls between 20 and 50 amps. If your panel is already near capacity, you may need a sub-panel or a service upgrade. We flag this during the assessment, not on install day.

Backup heat

Some homes benefit from an electric resistance backup strip or keeping the existing gas furnace as a dual-fuel backup. The choice affects equipment selection.

Ductwork condition

Indoor air handler or furnace coil set, outdoor condenser mounted on a pad or wall bracket, line set run, condensate drain plumbed, electrical disconnect installed, low-voltage controls wired in. For ducted systems, we verify static pressure and modify ductwork where needed.

Permit fees and inspection

Bellevue, Kirkland, Redmond, Seattle, and unincorporated King County all have slightly different permit fees. These are pass-through costs included in your quote.

We had an aging HVAC system that suddenly stopped cooling. The team came out promptly, performed a thorough diagnosis, and clearly explained the issues they found, including the refrigerant leak and the risks associated with continuing to repair an older system. Rather than pushing a sale, they took the time to walk us through both repair and replacement options, which helped us make an informed decision to replace the system. Once we decided to move forward, the installation process was smooth and professional from start to finish. The crew arrived on time, paid close attention to details, protected the work area, and kept us informed throughout the project. They completed the installation efficiently, tested everything carefully, and left the area clean when they were finished. We especially appreciated their professionalism, clear communication, and honesty throughout the process. The new system is working great, and we are very satisfied with the quality of the work. We would definitely recommend them to anyone looking for HVAC repair or replacement services.
