Should You Replace AC?
Repair makes sense when the unit is under 10–12 years old, the compressor is intact, and the repair cost is below 50% of what a new system would run. Most capacitor failures, refrigerant leaks on accessible components, and fan motor replacements fall squarely in repair territory.
Replacement starts making more sense when a system is 15+ years old, uses R-22 refrigerant (no longer manufactured), or has had two or more compressor-related repairs in the last three years. At that point, the money going into repairs tends to extend a system’s life by only one to two seasons.

AC Problems We Fix
AC blowing warm or room-temperature air
Usually a refrigerant leak, a failed compressor, or a frozen evaporator coil. We locate the source, repair the leak if present, recharge the system, and test output temperatures at the register.
AC not turning on at all
Could be a tripped breaker, a failed capacitor, or a faulty thermostat signal. We run a full electrical diagnostic to pinpoint the component — not just reset the breaker and call it done.
Short cycling (turns on and off every few minutes)
A refrigerant imbalance, an oversized unit, or a dirty air filter can all cause short cycling. Left unchecked it drives up electricity bills and wears out the compressor. We diagnose the root cause rather than masking the symptom.
Loud or unusual noises — rattling, grinding, squealing
Rattling often means a loose panel or debris in the unit. Grinding usually points to a failing motor bearing. Squealing suggests a worn belt on older systems. We identify the component before recommending a fix.
AC running constantly but not reaching set temperature
Common causes: low refrigerant, dirty condenser coils, or an air duct leak losing conditioned air before it reaches the rooms. We check all three and give you a prioritized list of what’s actually driving the problem.
Water leaking around the indoor unit
A clogged condensate drain or a frozen coil that’s thawing are the two most common culprits. Both are straightforward to fix — but ignoring a water leak can damage ceilings, flooring, and the air handler itself.
